MECHANISM OF ACTION
Cefpodoxime : Cefotec 50 Dry Syrup (Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg) is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the bacterial cell membrane, preventing the cross-linking of peptidoglycan, a key component of the cell wall. This weakens the cell wall, leading to bacterial cell lysis and death. Cefpodoxime is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, making it useful for treating infections such as respiratory, urinary, and skin infections.
