Cefu-250 Tablet is an antibiotic medicine that is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, soft tissue and urinary tract. This medicine is used alone or in combination with other medicines for treating bacterial infections. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Cefu-250 Tablet kills bacteria thus treats the infection.
The therapeutic effect of cefuroxime is the inhibition of bacterial growth and the treatment of various bacterial infections. By targeting and interfering with the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, this medication effectively inhibits the growth and spread of susceptible bacteria. It exhibits a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens commonly involved in respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interactions: You should avoid taking Cefu-250 Tablet with oral birth control pills, medicines that reduce gastric acidity (like antacids, omeprazole), immuno-suppressing drugs (mycophenolate or mycophenolic acid), medicines used for reducing uric acid (probenecid), and some urine glucose tests. Besides this, it also interacts with typhoid and BCG vaccines.
Drug-Food Interactions: Grapefruit juice and dietary supplements containing minerals like calcium may also work to dampen the effect of antibiotics.
Drug-Disease Interactions: Cefu-250 Tablet should not be given in the condition of colitis, kidney disease, patient planning for ferricyanide tests, patient on dialysis, liver disease, epilepsy (fits) and diarrhoea.
PRECAUTIONS
Several precautions should be observed when using Cefu-250 Tablet. Patients with renal or hepatic impairment should exercise caution, as dosage adjustments may be necessary to avoid adverse effects. It's crucial to consider potential drug interactions, particularly with medications like bronchodilators, corticosteroids, and antibiotics. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult healthcare providers before using acebrophylline due to limited safety data.
