DESCRIPTION
Cefu CV Dry Syrup consists of a combination of (Cefuroxime 125 mg + Clavulanic Acid 31.25 mg) Cefuroxime functions as an antibiotic by inhibiting the development of the protective barrier that bacteria require for their survival within the human body. Clavulanic Acid serves as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, effectively obstructing the enzymes produced by bacteria that would otherwise deactivate Cefuroxime. The inclusion of Clavulanic Acid diminishes bacterial resistance and amplifies the efficacy of Cefuroxime against bacterial infections.
INDICATION
2. Bronchitis : Cefu CV Dry Syrup (Cefuroxime 125 mg + Clavulanic Acid 31.25 mg) is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. It is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.
3. Tuberculosis : Cefu CV Dry Syrup (Cefuroxime 125 mg + Clavulanic Acid 31.25 mg)is a lung infection caused by bacteria. Cefu CV Dry Syrup kills this bacteria that is resistant to multiple antibiotics.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Cefuroxime a second-generation cephalosporin, exerts its action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are crucial for building the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell lysis and death. However, some bacteria produce β-lactamases, enzymes that can destroy the β-lactam structure of cefuroxime, rendering it ineffective.
Clavulanic Acid comes in. As a β-lactamase inhibitor, clavulanic acid binds to and inactivates these bacterial β-lactamases, preventing the breakdown of cefuroxime. This combination allows cefuroxime to remain effective against a broader spectrum of bacteria, including those that produce β-lactamases, which would normally confer resistance. Together, they enhance the treatment of various bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin.
