DESCRIPTION
Cefu CV-625 Tablet is an antibiotic consisting of (Cefuroxime 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg). It is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin and urinary tract. It works by interfering with the formation of the bacterial cell wall and eventually kills them. Cefu CV-625 Tablet (Cefuroxime 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg) is a combination antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including respiratory, skin, and urinary tract infections. Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects cefuroxime from being broken down by certain bacterial enzymes. Cefu CV-625 Tablet (Cefuroxime 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg) combination enhances the effectiveness of cefuroxime against resistant bacteria producing beta-lactamases.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Cefuroxime (500 mg) like the penicillins, is a beta-lactam antibiotic. By binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, it inhibits the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cell lysis is then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins; it is possible that cefuroxime interferes with an autolysin inhibitor.
Clavulanic Acid (125 mg) contains a beta-lactam ring in its structure that binds in an irreversible fashion to beta-lactamases, preventing them from inactivating certain beta-lactam antibiotics, with efficacy in treating susceptible gram-positive and gram-negative infections.
