DESCRIPTION

Deblo- M Syrup is the combination of (Ofloxacin 50 MG + Metronidazole 120 MG + Simethicone 10 MG Suspension) which is predominantly used in the treatment of diarrhea. Ofloxacin from it works to kill the bacteria as it prevents them from reproducing and repairing themselves. Metronidazole also works to kill the bacteria by destroying their DNA. Working together with both of these ingredients destroys the bacteria that causes the problem of diarrhea. Simethicone works to disintegrate the gas bubbles and it’s an antifoaming agent which allows the easy passage of gas. Ofloxacin, Metronidazole & Simethicone Suspension is also called empirical antibiotic which may be prescribed for infected diarrhea mixed with blood and for some serious infections like peritonitis.

INDICATION

• Gastrointestinal Infections: Deblo- M Syrup combination is used to treat infections of the gastrointestinal tract caused by susceptible bacteria, including diarrhea, gastroenteritis, and intestinal infections, providing both antimicrobial and symptomatic relief.

• Giardiasis: Deblo Syrup can be used to manage the gastrointestinal symptoms associated with giardiasis. Deblo Syrup, typically containing ingredients like Simethicone or Activated Charcoal, helps relieve bloating, gas, and abdominal discomfort by reducing excess gas in the digestive tract and aiding in faster passage. This can provide symptomatic relief during treatment and improve overall comfort while the infection is being addressed. Always follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding the use of Metronidazole and Deblo Syrup together for optimal results in treating giardiasis.

• Helicobacter pylori Infection: Deblo- M Syrup combination with other medications, this combination may be used to help eradicate Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium associated with gastric ulcers and gastritis, by treating the bacterial infection and reducing symptoms.

• Infections of the Lower GI Tract: Deblo- M Syrup can treat infections affecting the lower gastrointestinal tract, such as colitis or enteritis, caused by susceptible bacteria, which often lead to symptoms like diarrhea, cramps, and bloating.

• Bacterial Infections with Gas Distention: Deblo- M Syrup helps relieve bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort associated with bacterial infections or gastrointestinal disturbances, improving digestion and reducing discomfort from excessive gas buildup.

• Post-operative Infections: After abdominal surgeries or procedures, Deblo- M Syrup combination may be used to treat or prevent infections and reduce bloating, thereby improving recovery by controlling infections and alleviating discomfort. Additionally, Deblo- M Syrup helps manage gas-related symptoms often encountered post-operatively.

MECHANISM OF ACTION 

• Ofloxacin (50 mg): Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes that are essential for DNA replication, transcription, and repair in bacteria. By interfering with these processes, Ofloxacin prevents bacterial cell division and replication, leading to bacterial death or inhibition of growth. It is effective against a broad range of aerobic and gram-negative bacteria, as well as some gram-positive bacteria.

• Metronidazole (120 mg): Metronidazole is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal agent. It works by being reduced to its active form in anaerobic organisms. Once activated, it binds to DNA within the microbial cell, causing strand breakage and loss of structure, which ultimately inhibits nucleic acid synthesis. This leads to the death of the microorganism. It is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, including the Giardia parasite that causes giardiasis and other gastrointestinal infections.

• Simethicone (10 mg): Simethicone is an anti-foaming agent that works by reducing surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract. It helps to coalesce smaller gas bubbles into larger ones, making it easier for the body to expel the gas through belching or flatulence. This reduces bloating, abdominal discomfort, and flatulence, which are common symptoms in gastrointestinal disturbances.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Drug-Drug Interactions: Deblo- M Syrup (Ofloxacin 50 MG + Metronidazole 120 MG + Simethicone 10 MG Suspension) may interact with caffeine-containing medications, antacids, etc. Give Deblo- M Syrup (Ofloxacin 50 MG + Metronidazole 120 MG + Simethicone 10 MG Suspension) either 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking an antacid, multivitamin, or other product that has calcium/magnesium/aluminium/iron/zinc.

Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor before administering  Deblo- M Syrup (Ofloxacin 50 MG + Metronidazole 120 MG + Simethicone 10 MG Suspension) if your child has any history of lung disease or kidney or liver disease.

PRECAUTIONS

When using  Deblo- M Syrup (Ofloxacin 50 MG + Metronidazole 120 MG + Simethicone 10 MG Suspension), caution is needed in patients with allergies to its components, especially Ofloxacin and Metronidazole, which can cause allergic reactions. It should be used cautiously in those with renal or hepatic impairment, and dose adjustments may be necessary. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use it if the benefits outweigh the risks. The medication may cause CNS effects (dizziness, seizures) and gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea), so it should be monitored closely. Tendonitis and rupture are rare but serious risks, especially in older adults or those on corticosteroids. Prolonged use can lead to antibiotic resistance, and drug interactions with alcohol and other medications should be considered.
