DESCRIPTION
Fuciway Cream (Fucidin 2 %) is an antibiotic medicine that is primarily used in the treatment of bacterial infections of skin and hair follicles. It is also used to provide relief from symptoms such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, rashes, discharge from the infected site associated with bacterial infections like impetigo and folliculitis. This medicine works by stopping protein synthesis in bacteria thereby killing the bacteria.
INDICATION
• Skin infections : Fuciway Cream (Fucidin 2 %) is used to treat skin infections, infected cuts or abrasions caused by bacteria, especially in children. The medicine helps in treating non-severe, superficial (only skin level), non-extensive and primary skin infections (a skin infection that you are experiencing for the first time).
• Impetigo : Fuciway Cream (Fucidin 2 %) is used to treat impetigo, a skin infection caused by bacteria, cuts or abrasions, especially in children. This infection causes red, itchy sores or blisters which can rupture and ooze.
• Folliculitis : Fuciway Cream (Fucidin 2 %) is used to treat folliculitis, a condition where the hair follicles are inflamed (irritated and swollen) due to bacterial infection. This infection causes itchy or painful red bumps or white pimples around the base of the hair follicle.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Fuciway Cream (Fucidin 2 %) , the active ingredient in fusidic cream, works primarily by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the bacterial ribosome, preventing the translocation step of protein synthesis, which is essential for bacterial growth and reproduction. This action effectively stops the proliferation of bacteria, making fusidic cream particularly effective against a range of Gram-positive bacteria, including staphylococci. It's commonly used for skin infections and can help reduce inflammation as well.
