Metformin: This is a biguanide that primarily works by decreasing hepatic glucose production and increasing insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. PRECAUTION
When taking Glipotec M1 Tablet (Glimepiride 1 mg + Metformin 500 mg (PR), it's crucial to observe several precautions. Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels is essential to prevent and manage this risk. Secondly, ensure adequate kidney function before starting this combination, as Metformin is excreted through the kidneys and impaired function can lead to complications such as lactic acidosis. Additionally, monitor liver function regularly, as both medications can affect liver enzymes. Avoid Glipotec M1 if allergic to sulfonylureas or biguanides.
