DESCRIPTION

Itrotec-200 Capsule (ITRACONAZOLE 200 MG) containing Itraconazole, is a potent antifungal medication used to combat a range of fungal infections affecting diverse areas of the body, including the lungs, nails, mouth, and throat. It functions by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes essential for their integrity and function. By disrupting ergosterol production, Itraconazole effectively impedes fungal growth and propagation, thereby aiding in the treatment of conditions like aspergillosis in the lungs, onychomycosis in the nails, and oral or esophageal candidiasis in the mucosal surfaces. This medication is typically administered orally in capsule form and requires careful dosage adjustments based on the severity and type of infection.

USES OF ITROTEC-200 CAPSULE

• Blastomycosis : Blastomycosis is a fungal infection that can affect your lungs and also other parts of the body such as skin, bones, and joints. This condition is mostly asymptomatic (does not show symptoms) in the early stages, and when the infection becomes severe, it shows symptoms like night sweats, fever, cough, weight loss, chest pain, tiredness, etc. Itrotec-200 Capsule (ITRACONAZOLE 200 MG)  slows down the growth of this fungus and prevents it from spreading, thus it helps in treating the condition.

• Histoplasmosis : Histoplasmosis is a fungal infection that primarily affects your lungs. This condition may resolve on its own, but you will need treatment if the condition is severe. Itrotec-200 Capsule (ITRACONAZOLE 200 MG)  is used to treat this condition by preventing fungal growth.

• Invasive Aspergillosis : Invasive Aspergillosis is a fungal infection that mainly affects the lungs and spreads to other body parts like the brain, heart, kidney and skin. • Oral candidiasis : Oral candidiasis is a fungal infection that is seen in the mouth. This condition is characterised by white lesions on the tongue and inner cheeks. Itrotec-200 Capsule (ITRACONAZOLE 200 MG)  reduces these white lesions by preventing the growth of fungus.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Itraconazole 200 mg capsule exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. Ergosterol is crucial for maintaining the integrity and function of fungal cell membranes. By inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which is responsible for converting lanosterol to ergosterol, Itraconazole disrupts this process. As a result, fungal cell membranes become weakened and more permeable, leading to inhibition of fungal growth and replication.

It can affect liver function, causing elevated enzymes or severe damage, especially in patients with existing liver conditions. Serious cardiac effects, like heart failure, may occur in those with heart conditions, requiring cautious use and regular monitoring.
