DESCRIPTION
Moxytec Dry Syrup is a combination of (Amoxycillin 200 mg + Clavulanic acid 28.5 mg). Moxytec Dry Syrup (Amoxycillin 200 mg + Clavulanic acid 28.5 mg) is used orally to treat many bacterial infections of the lungs, middle ear, sinuses, skin, teeth, and urinary tract. Amoxycillin interferes with the growth and division process of the bacterial cell wall while Clavulanic acid enhances the activity of Amoxycillin against bacteria. Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin-type antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to the destruction of the bacteria. Moxytec Dry Syrup (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid) is effective against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, is included in Moxytec Dry Syrup (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid) combination to protect amoxicillin from being inactivated by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria. This makes Moxytec Dry Syrup (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid) combination particularly effective against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, which might otherwise be resistant to amoxicillin alone. Moxytec Dry Syrup (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid) combination is commonly prescribed for conditions such as respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and sinusitis, providing enhanced antibacterial coverage and helping to treat infections caused by a variety of resistant bacteria.
INDICATION
4. Skin Infection : Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Moxytec Dry Syrup (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid) is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.
5. Urinary Tract Infection : An infection in any part of your urinary system- the kidneys, bladder, ureters (tubes that propel urine from kidneys to the urinary bladder), or urethra (lower opening of bladder) is called urinary tract infection (UTIs). UTIs are the most common infections in humans and girls/women are at greater risk of getting this infection. UTIs are caused by bacteria and in some cases, viruses or fungi. Moxytec Dry Syrup (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid) is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Amoxicillin (200 mg) : Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin-type antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to specific proteins on the bacterial cell wall known as penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). This binding interferes with the final stages of bacterial cell wall synthesis, causing the cell wall to weaken and eventually leading to bacterial cell lysis and death. Amoxicillin is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including those causing respiratory, urinary, and skin infections.
Clavulanic Acid (28.5 mg) : Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that works by binding to and inactivating beta-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria. Beta-lactamase enzymes break down the beta-lactam ring structure of antibiotics like amoxicillin, rendering them ineffective. By inhibiting these enzymes, clavulanic acid protects amoxicillin from degradation, allowing it to remain active against bacteria that would otherwise be resistant. This enhances the effectiveness of amoxicillin, particularly against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.
