MECHANISM OF ACTION

Pantoprazole: As a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), pantoprazole works by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in the parietal cells of the stomach lining. This enzyme is responsible for the final step in gastric acid production. By blocking this enzyme, pantoprazole significantly reduces stomach acid secretion, helping to relieve symptoms of acid reflux and allowing healing of the stomach lining.

Domperidone: Domperidone is a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist that primarily works by enhancing gastrointestinal motility. It blocks dopamine receptors in the gut, which increases the movement of the stomach and intestines, promoting the faster passage of food through the stomach. Additionally, by blocking dopamine receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) in the brain, domperidone helps to prevent nausea and vomiting.
