ROSUVASTATIN 10 MG + FENOFIBRATE 160 MG

DESCRIPTION

Rusac-F Tablet (Rosuvastatin 10 +  Fenofibrate 160 mg) is a medicine that consists of Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate. It is used in the treatment of hyperlipidaemia (high levels of fat). It helps to reduce the level of bad cholesterol and fats in the body and thus prevents the risk of heart attack and stroke. Rusac-F Tablet works by reducing the formation of cholesterol in the body. It also increases the natural fat breakdown in the body. 

INDICATION

• Hyperlipidaemia : Hyperlipidaemia is a condition in which there are high levels of fat particles (lipids) in the blood. Rusac-F Tablet (Rosuvastatin 10 +  Fenofibrate 160 mg)  reduces the level of cholesterol, removes the bad cholesterol (LDL) and increases the levels of good cholesterol (HDL) in your blood.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Rosuvastatin : works by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which decreases cholesterol production in the liver and increases the number of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) receptors on liver cells, leading to reduced LDL cholesterol levels.

Fenofibrate :  activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPAR-α), which enhances the oxidation of fatty acids, lowers triglyceride levels, and increases HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol. Combined, these medications target both elevated LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, improving overall lipid profiles and reducing cardiovascular risk.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Drug-Drug Interaction: Rusac-F Tablet (Rosuvastatin 10 +  Fenofibrate 160 mg) have shown interactions with immune system affecting medicine (cyclosporine), bile affecting pills (niacin, gemfibrozil, bile acid resin), anti-HIV drugs (lopinavir, ritonavir, atazanavir, ritonavir, tipranavir/ritonavir, fosamprenavir/ritonavir), anti-coagulant or blood thinners (coumadin, warfarin), and anti-arthritis pills (colchicine). So if you are taking these drugs tell your doctor before taking Rusac-F Tablet.

Drug-Food Interaction: High fat/lipid-containing food or drinks like processed foods, packed foods, pastries, cookies, cakes, alcoholic beverages (beer) should be avoided while taking Rusac-F Tablet (Rosuvastatin 10 +  Fenofibrate 160 mg) . 

Drug-Disease Interaction: Rusac-F Tablet (Rosuvastatin 10 +  Fenofibrate 160 mg)  should not be given in the condition of liver diseases like biliary cirrhosis (fatty liver disease), gall stones (cholelithiasis), kidney disease, muscle disease like myopathy, and rhabdomyolysis.

• General weakness
• Daytime drowsiness

PRECAUTION

When using Rusac-F Tablet (Rosuvastatin 10 +  Fenofibrate 160 mg) , monitor liver function regularly due to the potential for liver enzyme elevations from both medications. Watch for signs of muscle pain or weakness, which could indicate an increased risk of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. Be cautious with renal function, especially in patients with preexisting kidney conditions, as both drugs can affect kidney health.
