TAZO-P INJECTION
COMPOSITION PIPERACILLIN 4 GM + TAZOBACTUM 500 MG MRP 300.00 PACKING SIZE 4.5 GM PACKING TYPE VIAL WITH DISTILLED WATER FORM INJECTION GST 12% GRADE STANDARD MEDICINE
DESCRIPTION
Tazo-P Injection (Piperacillin and tazobactam) should be used with caution in patients with a history of allergic reactions to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics, as hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, can occur. It should also be carefully administered in patients with renal impairment, as dose adjustments may be required to prevent toxicity. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis, should be monitored closely, as antibiotic therapy can disrupt normal gut flora and lead to Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea. Additionally, the combination may interact with other medications, such as anticoagulants, requiring monitoring of coagulation parameters. Regular monitoring of renal function and liver enzymes is recommended during treatment.
INDICATION
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Piperacillin (4000 MG) : It is effective against a wide range of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. However, many bacteria produce beta-lactamases—enzymes that break down the beta-lactam ring structure of piperacillin and render it ineffective. To overcome this, piperacillin is often combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor, such as tazobactam, which protects the antibiotic from degradation and broadens its spectrum of activity against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.
Tazobactam : It is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that works by binding to and inactivating beta-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria. Beta-lactamases are enzymes that hydrolyze the beta-lactam ring of antibiotics like penicillins and cephalosporins, rendering them ineffective. By inhibiting these enzymes, tazobactam prevents the breakdown of beta-lactam antibiotics, such as piperacillin, thereby enhancing their antimicrobial activity.
