DESCRIPTION

Tec-MF  (Mefenamic acid 250 mg + Tranexamic Acid 500 mg) Tablet is a combination of Mefenamic acid and Tranexamic acid. It is used to treat pain and heavy bleeding during menstruation. It prevents the breakdown of blood clots, which helps to reduce heavy menstrual flow. It also blocks the production of specific chemical substances responsible for causing pain.

INDICATION

• Heavy menstrual bleeding :"An abnormally heavy and/or prolonged period is called menorrhagia. This happens if your hormone levels are imbalanced, your ovaries (part of the female reproductive organ responsible for producing eggs) stop functioning normally or due to other medical conditions. Tec-MF (Mefenamic acid 250 mg + Tranexamic Acid 500 mg) Tablet  helps in the clotting of the lining of the uterus (womb) during menstruation, thereby reducing excessive bleeding.
  
  
   

• Menstrual pain : Menstrual pain or a painful period is a throbbing, aching cramp or pain that you get in your lower belly just before and during your menstruation. You may experience this pain for 1-2 days each month. Tec-MF (Mefenamic acid 250 mg + Tranexamic Acid 500 mg)Tablet  is used to provide relief from such aching pain in your belly during menstruation.
  
   

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Tranexamic Acid:  is an antifibrinolytic agent that works by inhibiting the activation of plasminogen to plasmin. Plasmin is an enzyme that breaks down fibrin, a key component of blood clots. By preventing this breakdown, tranexamic acid helps stabilize blood clots, reducing bleeding and controlling excessive menstrual flow.

Mefenamic Acid: As a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), mefenamic acid works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, particularly COX-1 and COX-2. This inhibition reduces the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals involved in inflammation, pain, and fever. By lowering prostaglandin levels, mefenamic acid alleviates menstrual pain and discomfort.

Some of them include pain killers (aspirin), blood pressure-related drug (ramipril, propranolol), blood thinner (warfarin), anti-diabetics (glimepiride), immunosuppressants drug (tamoxifen), estrogen (Ethinyl estradiol), antimetabolite (methotrexate), retinoids(tretinoin) These drugs may affect the working of Tec-MF Tablet (Mefenamic acid 250 mg + Tranexamic Acid 500 mg) and may alter its efficacy.

Drug-Food Interaction: Tec-MF Tablet (Mefenamic acid 250 mg + Tranexamic Acid 500 mg) may interact with alcohol.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Tec-MF Tablet (Mefenamic acid 250 mg + Tranexamic Acid 500 mg) should not recommend for people having liver diseases, peptic ulcers, asthma, clotting disorders, ophthalmic disorders, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and skin allergy.
