DISCRIPTION

Ursotec-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) is a medicine used to dissolve gallstones that are composed mainly of undissolved cholesterol. It is also used to improve the flow of bile in Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (a chronic condition in which the bile ducts in your liver are slowly damaged and destroyed). Ursotec-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) works by breaking down the cholesterol in gallstones which helps in dissolving the stones. It improves the functioning of liver enzymes and protects liver cells.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Ursotec-300 Tablet (Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg) exhibits diverse therapeutic effects in liver and bile-related disorders. It reduces the cholesterol content of bile by decreasing hepatic cholesterol production and intestinal absorption, facilitating the dissolution of cholesterol gallstones. Additionally, UDCA protects hepatocytes from toxic bile acids, promoting the secretion of less harmful, hydrophilic bile acids that alleviate liver inflammation and damage. Its immunomodulatory properties are particularly beneficial in conditions such as primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), where UDCA helps regulate the immune response to prevent autoimmune attacks on bile ducts. Furthermore, UDCA enhances bile flow from the liver to the intestines, optimizing the clearance of bile acids and minimizing their hepatotoxic effects.
