DESCRIPTION
Xoline-P Nasal Drop is a combination of (Xylometazoline Hcl 0.05% + Chloride Sodium 0.02%) is a topical nasal decongestant that belongs to the class of drugs known as sympathomimetic amines. It works by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors in the smooth muscles of the nasal blood vessels, causing vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels). This vasoconstriction reduces blood flow to the nasal mucosa, leading to a decrease in swelling and congestion in the nasal passages. As a result, xylometazoline helps to relieve nasal congestion associated with conditions such as the common cold, rhinitis, sinusitis, and allergies. Xoline-P Nasal Drop (Xylometazoline Hcl 0.05% + Chloride Sodium 0.02%) is typically available in nasal spray or drops form and is used for short-term relief of nasal congestion. It is important to use xylometazoline only as directed, as prolonged use (beyond 3-5 days) can lead to rebound congestion, a condition where the nasal passages become more congested once the medication is stopped, resulting in a cycle of dependency.
INDICATION
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Xylometazoline HCl (0.05%): Xylometazoline is a sympathomimetic agent that acts primarily as a vasoconstrictor. It works by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors on the smooth muscle of blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. This leads to vasoconstriction, reducing blood flow to the swollen blood vessels in the nasal passages. The result is a decrease in nasal congestion, allowing for easier breathing and improved airflow through the nose. The effect is generally rapid and provides temporary relief from nasal stuffiness.
Sodium Chloride (0.02%): Sodium chloride, in this concentration, acts as a mild saline solution that helps to moisturize and flush the nasal passages. It provides hydration, which can reduce dryness or irritation caused by nasal congestion or prolonged use of decongestants. Sodium chloride also helps to loosen mucus, facilitating its removal and providing a soothing effect to the nasal mucosa.

PRECAUTION
Xoline-P Nasal Drop (Xylometazoline Hcl 0.05% + Chloride Sodium 0.02% ) should be used with caution, especially in individuals with pre-existing health conditions. Prolonged use (beyond 3–5 days) can lead to rebound congestion, where nasal congestion worsens after the medication is stopped, creating a cycle of dependence. This medication should be avoided in patients with hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, glaucoma, or hyperthyroidism, as it may cause systemic effects like increased blood pressure or heart rate. Additionally, caution is advised in individuals with liver or kidney disease. Overuse or misuse can also result in irritation or dryness of the nasal mucosa.
